Community Announcement from dude6935 + Project Management Software

#0, by dude6935, 18 January 2011 07:46 PM

We have a new project direction, Project 2.0 (catchy, I know...) Our new goal is to build a common kit that we can all use as a starting point to build our own airships. So far, we are planning on a simple envelope that attaches to a paraglider style harness as a gondola. The envelope will be made out of shrink wrap used to cover boats for the winter. It comes up to 50 feet wide so we can build the envelope with only 2 pieces of material and just 1 seam! This is all subject to change, but I wanted to inform the group that we have made a great deal of progress on distilling an achievable goal from all the chaos of individual concepts. This approach allows us all to build our own dream ships, but we get a great jump start on the process by using a few common building blocks. We have a skype meeting tonight and every Tuesday night at 7 PM CST. If you want to participate, post your skype name anywhere on the forum and you will get contacted once the conference starts. No pressure, it is very informal.

Thanks,

How about a list of things to design as additional steps to the goal? We could keep a tree structure showing the connectivity between the various ideas along with an acceptance vote to keep track of % concurrence.

If I knew an easy way to do that I would agree.

Do we need to use some project management software?

I thought this one looked good. There is a free version without any storage space.http://www.clutterpad.com/homepage/tour

Just an idea.

http://www.treepad.com/   has nice simple tree-process organizers for free. Upgrades are av ailble for 30 bucks and up.

The trouble with organizers is they need constant maintenance to work right. Might as well play with a free one to see if it works for us.

Us individual smallblimpos should use TreePads to keep our little research projects on track. A nd maybe Dude would have his own for co ordinating the efforts toward the CPS, the Common Project Shell, which is a good EZ project and which has to move forward.

But, in the end, it's ok to do what you gotta do when and if you feel like it. Organizers do not guarantee anything. If it ain't fun it don't get done.

Just FYI, I downloaded a backup copy of the site to my computer. So if we lose this site, all the data will still exist somewhere.
