Glue

#0, by dude6935, 21 January 2011 06:24 PM

I want to start a dedicated thread for glue testing.

inventive47 tested silicone glue. He found that it takes more than a day to cure.

This morning I took the silicone seam and pulled on it and it easily pealed apart after sitting overnight.   It is not fully cured.   It doesn't look good for the silicone if it has to cure for two or three days.   The glue has to be very thin, especially in the middle of the glue seam where it takes the longest to dry.  Still, it would be okay to seal around something that wasn't dependent on the glue for strength, like a steel cable or thin nylon support strap.

He also ruled out gorilla urethane wood glue from personal experience.

If you see any other glue info, post it, even if someone else wrote it.

IPS really has a good glue site. They have charts showing which glue will glue what to what. I can't get the good stuff here, of course. Post office getting pretty strict

(note that the 'IPS' is a link to the site)

Loctite "Vinly, Fabric & Plastic" glue did not work on PEVA plastic at all. ( The surface came in a roughed up condition).
