The main ladder is a 40 foot extension ladder the the horizontal arm is a 16 foot extension ladder section.
Using U channel aluminum to reinforce the area of ladder overlap when fully extended By running all thread rod through the ladder rungs ( 2 in each section) and bolting the U channels on . The U channel spans both sections of ladder and still lets the ladder slide togather by removing the upper sections 2 thread rods . The rung catch works as normal so its no problem installing the rods , or telescoping the ladder .
The u channel also provides a sturdy area for the guy wire attachment points.
The horizontal ladder is made to pivot by using 2 triangle plates attached to each side of the 40 footer again using the all thread rod through the rung method to bolt the plates on , with the point of the triangle used for the pivot point for the horizontal section again by all thread rod through the first rung .
The horizontal section is guy wired to the upper most section of ladder where the main guys attach and again in the middle and down so the section cant bow upward under load .
With the ladder all collapsed in its stowed condition, it is stood up in its truck bed receiver and pinned to hold itself vertical . The lower guys are deployed and brought to tension by turnbuckles on the out riggers . The ladder is extended by the normal rope and pulley system . Fully extended the upper guys are deployed and brought into tension. Then the horizontal arm can be raised using the winch. The ladder is climbed and the 2 mid section all thread rods and installed and tightened, then the upper support guys to the horizontal arm are hooked up . Setup complete. I think this Jib Boom Gantry crane will be able to lift 200 pounds ( me) with no problem . However it is not designed to lift heavy loads but rather just put lines in tension around the ship. However it would be a plus to be able to lift me in a harness to get to areas on the inflated ship .
